TSR Predicts Week 17 in the NWSL

Week 17 brings us back ALL Olympians and we couldn’t be more excited!

8:00pm EST – Houston Dash took on Boston and Ohai picked up where she left off, wearing the Captain’s band and scoring a brace. Carli Lloyd was back and picked up a goal of her own. Sadly for Boston, they could not get momentum going and took the loss.

Here were our picks:

RJ: Boston

Chelsey: Houston

Sandra: Houston

Monica: Boston

7:00pm EST – Western New York look to spoil Washington’s week after a come from behind draw last week against the Dash. Washington is looking to secure the first playoff spot and hold onto first place, a win or draw will take care of that. I have a sneaky suspicion that they will be going for all 3 points and not the draw. This should be an entertaining one, neither team is lacking in goal scoring capabilities and Canada’s number one and number two keepers will face off.

Here are our picks:

Even though the Flash are capable of some great games and putting up some great goals, none of us can deny the run the Spirit are on and the solidity that seems to be at the core of this team. We all went with Washington.

RJ: Washington

Chelsey: Washington

Sandra: Washington

Monica: Washington

8:30pm EST – Houston will look to continue their hot streak as they take on Orlando. With Ohai on fire and Lloyd back and healthy, this could spell serious trouble for the backline of Orlando. Luckily for Harris, she will have all but Steph Catley back in her backline and here’s to hoping that makes life a little easier on her.

Here are our picks:

Even with the internationals returning for Orlando, Houston is just hot right now and doesn’t look to be cooling off. We all went with Houston.

RJ: Houston

Chelsey: Houston

Sandra: Houston

Monica: Houston

6:00pm EST – FCKC is desperately trying to salvage something from this season and while they are in no way making the playoffs, they would love to play spoiler for another team. Sky Blue is coming off of a rough loss to Chicago and will be looking to keep the pressure on and their playoff hopes alive. But with Kelley O’Hara out for a right ankle sprain after her first post-Rio match, Sky Blue is going to have to find their spark somewhere else.

Here are our picks:

I have a feeling that I’m not alone in believing that Sky Blue would like to party like it’s 2009, and it’s the drive and a certain #3 that gave us all the confidence to go with Sky Blue.

Chelsey: SBFC

Sandra: SBFC

Monica: SBFC

7:00pm EST – Boston is hoping to knock Portland down a rung or two. Portland is making the playoffs, short of an epic meltdown. This could go one of two ways, either Boston plays out of their minds and keeps it close, or Portland opens the flood gates.

Here are our picks:

Flood gates or not, we all picked Portland.

Chelsey: PTFC

Sandra: PTFC

Monica: PTFC

7:00pm EST – Rounding out the weekend is Seattle against Chicago. Both teams coming off of huge wins. Chicago finally got Press some help and is off to scoring more than one goal a game, while Seattle remembered what it was like to beat Portland. This should be a great game, the only question is, which Seattle will show up?

Here are our picks:

RJ: Seattle

Chelsey: Chicago

Sandra: Chicago

Monica: Chicago

In case you’re keeping tabs (we definitely are) here is how our prediction standings look after Week 16:

  1. RJ 33-34
  2. Sandra 32-29
  3. Chelsey 32-35
  4. Monica 22-23
